As i was thinking of a possible idea for a post an idea crossed my mind while watching television. I was watching the television show Chuck and there was a scene where a female spy had to seduce a man to find out information. While watching the show, i saw a commercial for another spy show called Archer and the episode was about the male spy seducing another man for information. What amazed me was my natural reaction to both incidents. The female seducing the male was like nothing, like something you would see everyday. The male seducing another male seemed very foreign and weird. This amazed me because it shows how we have been conditioned by society to believe that only a women can seduce a man or the other way around, but yet with the way we have grown as a society, it seems like a man seducing a man shouldn't be seen as something out of the ordinary.
That show Archer is pretty controversial. That being said, I kind of. What you of agree with you and I kind of don't. True in society's eyes a man should only be seduced by a woman, or 2. However I get the impression that if a woman were to be seduced by another woman it would be cheered on. That being said, you are absolutely right in saying that society has instilled it in our brains that man on man action is disturbing and should'nt happen. I think people are realizing that it's not ok to judge one kind of same sex sexual encounter and not the other.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree, having a female seducing a male is so normal because it's seen as acceptable in society due to the media. It's a "fantasy" that males want to encounter so it's ok. On the otherhand having a male seducing a male in the media is seen as abnormmal because it's not something you see in the media as regularlly. So it's ok for a women to seduce a man but not ok for a man to seduce a man? Society and the media are sending the wrong messages and having double standards about sexuality and that's horrible. It should be socially acceptable because of everything else that's being shown in the media.
ReplyDeleteWell our society has always been based on male and female. So even though today we may accept people as being homosexuals but on the other hand as a society I don't think we are quite ready to accept that as a whole. We might accept our friends and family memebers as they are but if it potrayed in the media or public it is looked down upon as not being the norm. That is the reason for the strange reactions to Archer its nothing we have every really experienced unless we lived it. Everyone may know someone whom happens to be a homosexual even if we do were not able to fully understand it until we can empathize with that person. It has to be the people who are able to accept it not just the media.
