A show that my girlfriend got me watching was the show Greek. Greek follows various college students at a fictional university as they deal with fraternities, sorority's, facing there futures, and dealing with everyday college life. Rob Owen of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette says, "Writer/creator Patrick Sean Smith gives Greek a greater sense of light-hearted fun that seems more authentic to the real-world experience of college as "the best years."" In fact the main character of Rusty Cartwright, the stereotypical college nerd who joins a frat house, was one of the few characters that I can say I related with. This show is the same as Glee, critically acclaimed and awesome in my opinion, but not what I am supposed to be watching. So what is your opinion on this matter. Do you agree with me that it is a ridiculous double standard or is there a side to the argument that I am not representing?

You Watch What...Give Me Your Man Card

Lol. Personally I don't watch any television as far as I'm concerned we are wasting money paying for TV. I turn on my TV for three reasons news, weather and one celeb Drake. My bff is very obsessed with this Glee she says it's the best show she ever watched. However I'm not concerned about fictions that represent college life how about giving us a reality show with real college students. Because college is not just about learning your identity but you have to pass the classes. Many people forget that college is still a school.
ReplyDeleteI too enjoy Glee and I was into Greek for a while as well. Go figure I am female but still, I personally believe (as I have brought up in class before) Glee is an excellent show that appeals to all audiences. You have the gay kid, the pregnant teen, the show off, the jock, and just about every person in between. Now I can understand how a closed minded may be even sexist male could say "Hand in your man card" because of the constant singing and the fact that there is some drama in the plot, but to that I say ignore him! Watch what you want. My 24 year old boyfriend still watches cartoons, mind you it's anime and there are alot of risque interactions in many of the shows but it's still a cartoon. If you enjoy sitting on the couch with your girlfriend and watching these shows then do it. I don't know your friend but maybe he's jealous that he doesn't have a girlfriend to snuggle up to and watch T.V. with...
